What THEY Say
Understandably, I think I’m pretty awesome and good at what I do. But you don’t have to take my word for it. Here are some testimonials from past (and current) clients and colleagues about what I can do for you and help out on your projects.
Working with BJ on the adventures for the Dragonbane RPG Miniatures campaign was great. It’s not easy for a writer to jump into someone else’s game and immediately grasp both the tone, format, and rules of the game. BJ nailed it.
Working with BJ on The Clash Before Christmas was a great experience. His writing was sharp, imaginative, and he was consistently communicative and reliable throughout the whole process. He brought great creative instincts to the project and delivered exactly what we needed with zero fuss. I’d happily collaborate with him again.
Working with BJ has been an absolute pleasure. He has great attention to detail and went above and beyond what I expected. This is definitely not the last time I work with him, and I can’t recommend him highly enough!
Have you ever been stressed about meeting your new writer? Pitching all the crazy ideas, figuring out schedules, discussing payments, worrying about communication? Well stress no more, because in BJ you have found your perfect match. All the crazy ideas? “yes, AND!” Figuring out schedules? A breeze! Talking about money? He will make it seem like the most delightful, easy conversation you’ve ever had. Communication? The chat is buzzing, filled with valuable input, jokes and discussions about the meaning of life. BJ is the kind of a writer you want on all of your future projects, and also on all your game-nights with friends. Seriously, we need to play that session we’ve talked about, and don’t you dare take this sentence out of my review.
What Players Say
And more than clients and colleagues, the players have a voice, too. Here are some excerpts from reviews various pieces of my writing have received over the years.
I ran this one-shot for some festive fun as a public library program for teens; they got a real kick out of it! I think there were great notes about scaling the difficulty of the adventure, and decided to let the players present add any magical items they recieved from Santa’s gifts to their inventory. (…) The teen’s (sic) eyes grew huge when the Santa Claus became Claws, and one of the parents said their teen talked about the adventure for several days after. It was easy to run and very engaging.
The approach taken is creative and refreshing, with some well thought-out spells that really bring something new to the game.
BJ is such an awesome and balanced DM! He makes sure everyone gets a chance to jump in on the action each session and keeps things balanced so no one feels left out. He’s great at giving space for players who love getting deep into roleplay, but he also makes it super easy and fun for newcomers or folks who aren’t big on coming up with stuff on the fly. Every session with him feels welcoming and a blast to play in where you pretty much have the freedom to be whatever you can think of!
This is a surprisingly complete adventure! It has almost everything you need, including decent maps that are a step above most of what I’ve seen on this site. (…) The writing style is amusing, the monsters/bosses and rewards are unique, there are some non-combat encounters built in, the story is detailed and interesting while leaving space for player agency and chaos.
I have been running an annual holiday one shot going on three years now, and this was what i used for year 3. It was clever and fun and my players loved it, and i loved tweaking it to fit my story. It was so fun and well made and worth a buy for some holiday fun!
Dragon Tower was so much fun to run as a DM and my party loved it. It’s a great mini dungeon crawl with dragons. I ran it with my level 7 4-member party and it scaled really well. I loved that it fitted really well as a supplement into Candlekeep Mysteries that ive been running. Thanks
